I've been in a main crisis for week over a year now, and at this point I've decided trying to pick a main isn't worth it if I'm not gonna be able to fully focus on them without playing 10 other characters for fun.
So I've decided to not have a main.
This doesn't mean I'm gonna try to become like ANTi, just counterpicking with different characters in my arsenal. What I'm doing is just playing who I feel like playing. I'm focusing on having fun over being competitive, and I feel that'll help keep me interested in the game, since being competitive tends to result in bad moods in times of failure. It's kinda more of a mindset thing. This doesn't mean I don't care about improving anymore, I still want to be good at Smash 4. It's just that now I'm prioritizing actually enjoying the game for what it is: A GAME. I have fun when I'm just messing around and picking characters just for the hell of it. I don't have fun when I'm using one specific character that I have devoted myself to improving with and experiencing constant frustration and whatnot.
TL;DR: I don't have a main anymore because I want to have fun.
