So I thought I was keep this updated, and I haven't. Before I go into the exciting news, I need to jostle down what's kept me away from taking this journal. I have been moping back and forth on how I feel in my rate of overall improvement, and it has sometimes put me in very low moods and has influenced my head a bit. It's a big reason why I stayed away from here. While I tried to convince myself it could be good to write notes and think about what needs improving, the salt has kept me from doing anything constructive and instead manifests into more bad play with further pressure on how my performance should be. I've actually visited this page a few times to try and even write a simple note, but it could never come to fruition. But that's behind me now. At least, for now.
Yes, I'm writing this at the time I've entered the platinum ranks. It does feel good. Yes I should still spend more time on the CRT to practice moving, shield pressure, etc, but grinding some netplay has reaped some reward. I thought less about getting frustrated and instead have tried to really search deep into my opponent and pick him apart in openings he won't recognize. That's what's helped me get this far. Now that I am here though, I need to remind myself both of what I am doing right, and what I still need improving with.
First, my shield pressure, when hot, is hot. It's crisp more than ever, but I still have some moments where I can't seem to get it going. I think this is always going to be an area of practice for Falco, just because this tool is essential to have to put fear into players when in shields. If I can't make them feel afraid to bubble, I'm in for a world of hurt.
I'm shinegrabbing more, but still not enough for what I need. It's a tool I've practice and I don't utilize well enough.
As far as where MUs are concerned, I feel most comfortable against puff and shiek. and more threatened by Marth and Fox. I really need to work on the Fox MU where the player jumps a lot. I know it's not supposed to be good, but there's some link or method I'm not picking up that still gets me hit every time the Fox comes down. Got to keep searching for what to do.
My movement cold be better, but it's seen a lot of work and I feel more comfortable on different maps. My laser game has improved and that really helps locking down foes hard.
Before I end, I need to tell myself to practice double shining. Cause I don't do it, and it's a small tool that would be really cool and help further shield pressure abilities.
Well, that's all for now. I'll hopefully report back in a week's time or something as long as I have something constructive to contribute. Thanks any anonymous readers, and most importantly, go for it me.
