On 7/31/2015 I was on scrolling through Twitch like I usually do and looking for people playing Sm4sh 3DS. For the most part, I've met a lot of amazing Smash players through Twitch since I only have the 3DS version of Smash and don't have any irl friends that play at the moment. While on my search I came across a tournament being help by Blueness7 and decided to join. I'm sad to say the tournament was horribly run.
For starters, many people joined the tournament but straight up didn't show up. It was a max of 24 entrants total but I expected as much. The host, Blueness7, did a horrible job keeping track of this. Instead of actually taking care of this situation he would just play with his friends on stream and left us to fix it for him. This was frustrating for me because I waited over 40 minutes for my opponent and they never did show up. It took us almost a hour to just finish round 1 with me eventually facing one of Blue's friends as a substitute. The host also didn't even have a rule list or stage list setup for us to look at. There were no bans. No nothing. Round 1 one was randomly 3 stocks, best of 1. From then on 2 stocks best of 3. Lastly, best of 5 for Finals.
Round 2 was when shit completed hit the fan. At this point in time, I wish I would have just dropped out. Blue decided to show our match on stream but acknowledged the he was laggy and wanted one of us to host. I end up two stocking my opponent and my opponent proceeded to complain about the lag. We eventually settled on redoing the set off stream. Sadly, my opponent began to ignore my messages toward him in the Twitch chat. And once we eventually got a set my opponent cancels the match in game and proceed to lie in chat about me canceling the match on him. This happened a total of two times. I offered Blue screen shots of my opponent ignoring my responses but he just laughed it off. My opponent thankfully decided to forfeit before I had Blue just disqualify us both because at this time I'm just tired of dealing with such child acts.
Round 3 went much better. It was someone who I faced before and I had a great match with my opponent even though it was a little laggy.Thank you for actually having a real match with me.
Semifinals, when I thought things couldn't get worse, got worse. The ZSS I was facing got an attitude after losing the first set and immediately switched to Sonic. After winning game 2, he proceed to accuse me of camping... with Kirby. Mind you customs were on and I was using the custom up special "Upper Cutter." Without a projectile, Kirby has a really hard time approaching Sonic who is literally a moving hit box with his specials. You have to play defensive against a character like Sonic so his statement really confused me, especially coming from a Sonic main. One of the campiest characters in the game. I manage to take game 3 and move on to finals but by that time... I had nothing to be happy about.
Through people calling me names and shamming me through chat, through Blueness7 and his friends making false allegations about me on stream, I just wanted to get it all over with. I had to face off another Sonic and deal with even more hate from the chat. I couldn't believe this. Here I am, playing Kirby against a rush down character like Sonic, and being shammed for trying my best to win. Due to an amazing side b read in game 2, a spike in game 3, and my opponent sding at the beginning of game 4 I manged to take the crown. I wanted to be so happy for myself. I played well and really gave it my all. After it was all over though... there was only one person who congratulated me on my victory.
Reading comments like "You camp more than Dabuz.", "Wow, this was anticlimactic.", and "All you do is jump, air dodge, and run away." I learned that people really like to see you lose. Especially when you're in a tournament where most of the people already know each other. I learned that all but 1 of my opponents lost to me because they have very little to no respect for their opponent or the game. I was respectful and even tried to be helpful through out the whole stream but was met with such discourse in return. I'll think twice before entering another online tourney from now on. Especially ones hosted by children.
Thank you for reading this! Remember to play for yourself and most of all play to have fun.

Notes while watching the video:
- I love how they make fun of my air dodges but... also make comments about Sonic's constantly using only 3 moves. What friendly bias. ^_^
- Lol! I do acknowledge now that air dodge a lot for no reason but it seems to work for me.
- Fuck them.
